Rachel Cochran

Rachel Cochran works for the Office of the CIO as a Director of ESG and Impact. She is based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Prior to joining TRG in April 2023, Ms. Cochran was the Head of ESG-Impact for Ethos Private Equity, which was acquired by TRG in April 2023. In her 4 years at Ethos, Ms. Cochran made significant strides in formalizing and professionalizing Ethos’ ESG-Impact strategy and reporting to investors. In addition, Ethos became a signatory to the UN Principles of Responsible Investment (UN PRI) and developed an Operating Principles for Impact Management (OPIM) compliant impact investing framework.

Ms. Cochran’s experience pre-Ethos spans 16 years with exposure and projects delivered across Europe, Asia and Africa. Most recently she worked at IBIS Consulting as a Principal Environmental Consultant where she supported Private Equity funds and DFI’s in their investment decisions relating to environmental and social risks.

Ms. Cochran is a Chartered Environmentalist and a Chartered Scientist (UK registered). She holds an MSc in Environmental Technology and a BSc in Environmental Geoscience.
