Morena Calvo

Morena Calvo is an experienced copy editor with a strong background in editing and translation. Currently serving as a Copy Editor at SFGATE since October 2022, Morena previously held the position of Lead Copy Editor at Archer Education from April 2017 to November 2022. Prior to that, Morena worked as a self-employed Copy Editor and Translator (ES>EN) from June 2011 to November 2022, and also edited content for Blink UX and Bleacher Report between 2011 and 2017. Morena's editing expertise encompasses language accuracy and style adherence, guided by the AP Stylebook, along with providing constructive feedback to writers and collaborating with social media and graphics teams. Additionally, Morena gained valuable experience as an Editing Intern and Graduate Assistant at Kent State University from August 2010 to May 2011. Morena holds an MA in Translation Studies from Kent State University and a BA in Romance Languages from Pitzer College.
