John L. Clark

Research Botanist at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens

John L. Clark is an experienced research botanist and educator with a strong background in evolutionary biology, plant systematics, and biodiversity. Current roles include Research Associate at the Missouri Botanical Garden and at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, as well as at the Smithsonian Institution since 2006. Prior to these positions, John served as the Aldo Leopold Distinguished Teaching Chair at The Lawrenceville School and as an Associate Professor at The University of Alabama. Educational achievements include a Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Forest Biology from the University of Vermont. Notably, John has a breadth of research experience, including a Fulbright fellowship for doctoral research in Ecuador.
