Philip Gonsiska

Greenhouse Horticulturist at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens

Philip Gonsiska is a highly experienced horticulturist with expertise in plant conservation, research, and education. Currently serving as a Greenhouse Horticulturist at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens since August 2020, Philip is responsible for maintaining research collections of diverse plant families. Previously, as a Rare Plant Curator at Bok Tower Gardens, responsibilities included overseeing the National Collection of endangered plants, conducting seed germination research, and managing demographic studies of endangered species. Philip's career also includes roles as an Independent Horticulturist, Garden Warrior at Schonheit Gardens, and academic positions at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where contributions included advising and coordinating academic programs. Philip holds a Ph.D. in Botany/Plant Biology, a Master of Science in Biology from Florida International University, and a Bachelor's degree in Plant and Soil Science from the University of Kentucky.
