Zia Shams

Zia Shams has over 30 years of work experience in various IT roles. Zia started their career in 1984 as a Software Engineer at Aball Software Inc. From 1987 to 1990, they worked as a Manager at Columbia Computing Services. In 1990, they became a Systems Manager at CTB McGraw Hill until 1993. In the same year, Zia founded their own company, The Shams Group, Inc, where they served as the CEO. The company specialized in providing EHR agnostic solutions and services to hospitals. In 2017, Zia joined Willis-Knighton Health System as the Chief IT Advisor. In this role, they advised senior administration and executives on IT strategy, enhanced existing interface/integration strategies, and led the organization's digital transformation.

Zia Shams attended St. Patrick's High School in Karachi, Pakistan from 1977 to 1981, where they completed their high school education. Afterward, Zia pursued higher education at the University of Regina, graduating with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science in the years 1981 to 1987.
