Jim Harris III, M.D. has extensive work experience in the medical field. Beginning in 1986, they worked at The South Bend Clinic as the Research Director for the Center for Research. In 1992, they were promoted to President, a position they held until 1996. Jim then transitioned to a new role at South Bend Clinic as Vice-President, where they worked from 1996 to 2010.

Jim Harris III, M.D., completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Wartburg College from 1971 to 1975. Subsequently, they pursued their medical education at the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine from 1975 to 1986, where they obtained their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree. During their time at the University of Iowa, they specialized in Allergy and Immunology through the Residency Program. After completing their education, they pursued further certifications in their field. In 1986, they obtained certification in Allergy and Immunology from the American Board of Allergy and Immunology, as well as in Pediatrics from the American Board of Pediatrics. In 1992, they received additional certification in Pediatric Pulmonology from the American Board of Pediatrics. Lastly, in 2010, they obtained the Certified Physician Investigator (CPI) certification from the ACRP institution.
