Ashley Nerbovig

Ashley Nerbovig is a professional journalist with extensive experience in reporting on criminal justice and political issues. Currently serving as a Criminal Justice Reporter at The Stranger since March 2023, Ashley previously held the position of Senior Political Reporter at The E.W. Scripps Company from April 2022 to December 2022. A brief tenure at the Detroit Free Press in late 2020 focused on mis- and disinformation during the critical election season, resulting in contributions to multiple publications. Ashley also reported for the Chinook Observer on environmental and political matters, and gained experience in patient care coordination at Fremont Dental. Other significant roles include internships with The Marshall Project and an education reporting position with Missoulian/Ravalli Republic. Ashley began the journalism career at the Billings Gazette Communications as a Justice Reporter. A graduate of the University of Montana with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Ashley possesses a solid educational background complemented by varied reporting experiences.
