Melissa Henry

Information Architect at The Understanding Group

Melissa Henry is an information architect and is interested in making information findable and understandable for all people. Melissa is curious about the ways that information structures impact accessibility and usability and wants to explore ways people interact with systems. She approaches this work from a social justice perspective and seeks to empower others to interpret, analyze, and act on information. Melissa has a background in social services and education, spent seven years working with children and youth. Melissa graduated from Denison University in 2012, with a B.A. in Sociology/Anthropology and Environmental Studies. In 2021, she completed a Masters of Information Management from the University of Washington. She has experience with taxonomy, ontology, and relational databases and strong interests in accessibility, user research, and instructional design.

In her spare time, she enjoys playing tabletop role-playing games, sewing costumes, and reading. She cooks, gardens, and loves eating at local restaurants. She currently resides in Seattle, and also spends time hiking and biking around the Pacific Northwest.
