Sanjiv Hyoju MD, PhD is a research assistant professor at the University of Chicago since July 2025, with previous experience as a research professional at UChicago Medicine from December 2014 to July 2025, focusing on areas such as the gut microbiome, colonic anastomosis leakage prevention, gut-derived sepsis, and obesity. Sanjiv completed a PhD at Radboud University Nijmegen from February 2016 to November 2021 and served as a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard Medical School and MGH from July 2013 to June 2015, where a project was conducted on preventing peritoneal adhesion in mice. Prior surgical experience includes roles as a general surgeon at Scheer Memorial Hospital and Civil Service Hospital and three years of intensive training in general surgery residency at B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. Educational credentials include a Master's degree in General Surgery from B.P. Koirala Institute and an MBBS from Manipal College of Medical Sciences.
