Isla Munro

Programme Director In Product Design at The University of Edinburgh

Isla Munro has a diverse work experience in the field of design and education. Isla has been working at Edinburgh College of Art since 2015, initially as a Design Tutor and later as a Teaching Fellow with a specialization in Product Design. In these roles, they have been responsible for delivering workshops, seminars, tutorials, and assignments, as well as performing course administration tasks. Isla also served as a Programme Convenor as part of the School of Design's Learning and Teaching team.

In addition to their work at Edinburgh College of Art, Isla has also worked as a Visiting Tutor at Chippendale International School of Furniture, where they conducted drawing instruction for furniture design. Isla has also provided freelance design and project management services since 2013.

Prior to their current positions, Isla worked as a Design Tutor at Edinburgh Napier University and the Edinburgh College of Art, where they gained teaching experience in design. Isla also had a role as a Design and Marketing Manager at Ben Dawson Design and worked as a National Marketing Co-ordinator and Graphic Designer at 3DReid Ltd. Isla started their career as a Design Intern at Foster and Partners.

Isla Munro completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PgCAP) at The University of Edinburgh in 2019. Before that, they obtained a Master's Degree in Design and Applied Arts from Edinburgh College of Art from 2003 to 2005. Isla also holds a Bachelor of Design (BDes) in Design Futures from Edinburgh Napier University, which they earned from 1998 to 2002. Isla'seducation history includes a BTEC Diploma in Design and Applied Arts from Bournville College of Art, which they completed in 1997.
