Oriol Mitja is an accomplished Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases and Global Health at Universitat de Vic – Universitat Central de Catalunya, where a research team is led and pre-doctoral students are trained. As a Senior Researcher at Fundació Lluita contra les Infeccions, Oriol has contributed to the publication of 110 scientific articles and secured over $5 million in research grants over the past decade. Additionally, Oriol serves as Head of Section at Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol, managing outpatient care for infectious diseases. Other roles include providing consultancy on clinical development and public health strategies for communicable diseases, and serving as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at The University of Papua New Guinea. Previous positions include Community Health Medical Director at International SOS and Senior Medical Officer at Barcelona Institute for Global Health. Oriol holds a PhD in Medicine from Universitat de Barcelona, along with several other degrees in the field.
