Phil Vaughan has extensive work experience in the field of human resources. Phil is currently the Chief Human Resources Officer at the University of Queensland, a position they have held since 2023. Prior to this, they held the same role at Monash University from 2021 to 2023.
At Monash University, they also served as the Director of HR Business Partnering and Recruitment from 2018 to 2021, and as the Lead HR Business Partner for the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences from 2017 to 2018.
Before their time at Monash University, Phil worked at the University of Queensland from 2010 to 2017. During this period, they served as a Change Manager, Human Resources Manager for the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and Senior Employee Relations Consultant.
Prior to their work in the education sector, Phil held positions at the Queensland Independent Education Union as an Industrial Services Officer from 2009 to 2010, and at Westminster UNISON as the Branch Secretary and Assistant Branch Secretary from 2006 to 2009.
Their early career includes roles at Westminster City Council as an Environmental Services Officer from 2004 to 2006, and at the London Borough of Newham as an Environmental Health Technical Officer from 2000 to 2004. Additionally, Phil served as a Board Member at Tombolo Academy from 2021 to 2022.
Phil Vaughan completed a Graduate Certificate in Executive Leadership from The University of Queensland in 2013-2014. Prior to that, they pursued a Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Westminster from 2007-2009. Their undergraduate studies include earning a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Health from the University of Greenwich from 1996-2000.
