Thomas Richard McKinney

Thomas Richard McKinney, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral researcher at The University of Sheffield, focusing on the NaSEMA project funded by The Faraday Institution. Previously, Thomas served as an R&D Battery Engineer at Mobile Power, managing a collaborative R&D project with a projected net profit of £4.38 million. As a PhD research student at The University of Sheffield, Thomas developed advanced computational models to facilitate electric vehicle uptake and energy storage in rural communities. This role included substantial data analysis and machine learning applications. Additional experiences include internships at Intertek, where Thomas demonstrated project management and testing expertise, and leadership positions such as Treasurer of the Mechanical Engineering Society at The University of Sheffield. Thomas holds a PhD in Management and Electrical Engineering and a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Sheffield.
