Jana Spitzer

Jana Spitzer, PhD, serves as a Training Specialist and Senior Associate Director at the University of Tennessee's Naifeh Center for Effective Leadership and Academic Success Center, respectively. With extensive experience in advising and student services, Jana manages day-to-day operations of the College of Education, Health & Human Sciences Office of Advising, overseeing a team that supports approximately 2,700 undergraduate students. Responsibilities include budget management, development of advising best practices, and training academic advisors. Earlier roles included teaching First Year Studies and Sociology courses, as well as advisory positions that involved implementing assessment models and supervising support staff. Jana holds a PhD in Higher Education Administration and an MA in Sociology from the University of Tennessee, alongside a BA in Sociology from East Tennessee State University.
