Tom Gill

Smith Chair In International Sustainable Agriculture at The University of Tennessee-Knoxville

Tom Gill currently serves as the Smith Chair in International Sustainable Agriculture at the University of Tennessee, leading the Smith Center and managing international agricultural development programs with funding from USAID, USDA, and NSF. Previously, Tom held the position of Assistant Director of International Programs at The Pennsylvania State University, where responsibilities included coordinating the International Agriculture minor program and teaching classes on food security. Earlier experience includes managing seed bank activities at ECHO International Inc and serving as a volunteer teacher in Uganda. Tom's academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Ecology from the University of Florida, an M.Sc. in Tropical Agricultural Development from the University of Reading, and a B.A. in Geography from the University of Cambridge.
