Peter Stone

Peter Stone is a prominent artificial intelligence researcher serving as Chief Scientist at SonyAI since July 2024 and a Professor of Computer Science at The University of Texas at Austin since July 2002. Stone's research focuses on planning, machine learning, multiagent systems, robotics, and e-commerce. Prior to current roles, Stone was the Executive Director of Sony AI America from November 2019 to June 2024 and co-founded Cogitai, Inc., where Stone held the position of President and COO from September 2015 to November 2019. Earlier experience includes a Senior Researcher role at AT&T Labs - Research from 1999 to 2002. Stone earned a PhD in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University (1993-1998) and an SB in Honors Mathematics with a concentration in Computer Science from the University of Chicago (1989-1993).
