Katie Blackburn Franke has a diverse work experience in the field of neurodevelopment and psychology. Katie began their career as an ABA Therapist at Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center in 2011 and later became a Lead ABA Therapist. In 2013, they joined the Washington & Lee University Department of Psychology as a Research Assistant, where they worked on various research projects. Katie then worked as a Psychological Consultant at Pine Grove, Inc. in 2014. Katie furthered their education by becoming an Instructor at the University of South Carolina in 2015 and also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. Katie later completed a Doctoral Internship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in 2018. Katie then joined the Autism Academy of South Carolina as a Postdoctoral Fellow before transitioning to their current role as the Director of Clinical Services at The Unumb Center for Neurodevelopment, which they began in 2019. Katie was previously the Director of Psychological Services at the same organization.
Katie Blackburn Franke has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in School Psychology from the University of South Carolina, where they studied from 2013 to 2018. Katie also earned a Master's Degree in School Psychology from the same university, studying from 2013 to 2015. Before that, they attended Washington and Lee University from 2007 to 2011, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology and Romance Languages. Katie completed their high school education at Lord Botetourt High School from 2003 to 2007. In addition to their academic achievements, Katie has obtained certifications as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board in May 2018 and as a Licensed Psychologist from the South Carolina Board of Examiners in Psychology in November 2019.
