Travis Swanson

Travis Swanson is a Research Scientist at The Water Institute of the Gulf, having held this position since January 2023. Prior to this role, Travis served as an Assistant Professor at Georgia Southern University from July 2019 to January 2023 and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Rice University from September 2016 to May 2019, where Travis conducted extensive simulations on sea-level rise impacts and led outreach activities. Previous experience includes a position as a Geologist at Shell, focusing on aeolian reservoir properties and data analytics, as well as significant roles at The University of Texas at Austin, where Travis completed a PhD in Geology/Earth Science and contributed to various teaching and research initiatives. Educational background includes a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the same institution, specializing in Geology and Hydrology.
