Chief Economist, Invest In America Cabinet at The White House

Heather Boushey has had an extensive career in economics and policy. Heather currently holds the role of Chief Economist in the Invest in America Cabinet at The White House, starting in February 2023. Prior to this, they served as a Member of the Council of Economic Advisers since January 2021.

Before joining The White House, Boushey was a Co-founder, President, and CEO of the Washington Center for Equitable Growth from July 2019 to December 2020. Prior to that, they held the position of Co-founder, Executive Director, and Chief Economist at the same organization from November 2013 to July 2019.

Boushey also has previous experience at the Center for American Progress, where they worked as the Chief Economist from February 2013 to November 2013 and as a Senior Economist from December 2008 to February 2013. Additionally, they served as a Senior Economist at the Joint Economic Committee of the U.S. Congress from November 2007 to December 2008, and as a Senior Economist at the Center for Economic and Policy Research from January 2003 to October 2007.

Heather Boushey obtained their Bachelor's degree in Economics from Hampshire College from 1988 to 1992. Heather continued their education at The New School, where they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics from 1992 to 1998.
