Desiree Magney is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in writing, editing, and law. As a freelance manuscript and story editor since 2017 and a teacher at The Writer's Center since 2016, Desiree specializes in memoir and poetry writing, with published works in notable outlets such as The Washington Post Magazine and Bethesda Magazine. Previously, Desiree served as the Publisher and Vice President of Little Patuxent Review from 2014 to 2020, and worked as a Supervisory Attorney at the DC Volunteer Lawyers Project, advocating for children's rights in custody cases from 2008 to 2014. Desiree's legal expertise includes a significant tenure at the Internal Revenue Service, where responsibilities included leading the Corporate Reorganization Branch, and experience as a Tax Manager at Price Waterhouse, focusing on corporate mergers and acquisitions. Desiree holds a JD from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, and a BA in Pre-Law Studies from The Catholic University of America.
