Coleen R. Sparkman

Coleen Sparkman received her Masters degree in Communicative Disorders from California State University, Fresno. She is a Speech and Language Pathologist and has a Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech – Language – Hearing Association. Ms. Sparkman is the former director of the speech pathology clinic, The Speech Path.

Ms. Sparkman has provided early intervention services to children and technical assistance to school personnel and regional center staff since 1979. In that capacity she has evaluated or worked with more than 600 children with autism.

Ms. Sparkman’s work has been presented at numerous professional meetings including the California Association for Behavior Analysis and the European Associaiton Behaviour Analysis. Her work with children with pervasive developmental disorders is recognized throughout the western United States. She is the co-author of two outcome studies on early intensive behavior analytic intervention with children published in 2005 & 2014 in the journal of Research in Developmental Disabilities. Ms. Sparkman was a member of the Advisory Committee on the State of California Developmental Disabilities Task Force on Autism Spectrum Disorders: Guidelines for Effective Interventions and a conceptual reviewer for the National Standards Project, a national task force devoted to the identification of evidence-based treatment for individuals with autism spectrum disorders.
