Shaun Newberry

Shaun was appointed Executive General Manager of Technical Services in February 2019. He brings more than 25 years of experience in the global mining industry, most recently as the Senior Vice President, Technical Services of AngloGold Ashantii in South Africa, a role he held since 2013. With experience spanning mining operations, technology and innovation, and project program management, Shaun sees technical excellence as fundamental to any successful mining organization. Through leadership and professionalism, Shaun has successfully implemented and influenced business planning processes, driven robust project pipeline management, and achieved business improvement through the implementation of innovative technologies and processes. Shaun is a people-orientated leader who is passionate about achieving best-practice technical mining outcomes through a highly-capable technical team. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Witwatersrand, a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the University of Cape Town, and has completed an Advanced Executive Development Program at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University in the USA.
