Stephanie Gemmen, M.Ed. has over eight years of work experience in the education field. Stephanie began their career in 2013 as a High School English Teacher at Kelloggsville High School, where they worked with 9th grade students in English Language Arts and World History. During their time there, they planned and taught a unit on Romeo and Juliet, Poetry unit, historical fiction, and research paper unit for ELA 9. Stephanie also made positive/negative parent contact. In 2014, they moved to National Heritage Academies as a Paraprofessional Educator, where they assessed students for reading and math placement, planned and executed short lesson plans catered to students' needs based on data, and led students through IRLA and i-Ready programs. In 2015, they worked as an English Teacher at both Grant High School and GREAAT Schools, Inc. At Grant High School, they created new curriculum for 9th and 11th grade with the English and Social Studies professional learning community (PLC), aligning the English curriculum to the Social Studies curriculum. Stephanie also executed daily lesson plans for up to three different classes five times a day, and managed up to 33 students in a classroom and up to 150 students' grades and papers. At GREAAT Schools, Inc., they created and executed lesson plans for Othello in English 10 and The Secret Life of Bees in English 9. Stephanie also worked with a team of other high school teachers to collaborate on what to do with testing data, and collaborated with another teacher to plan and execute a one week scavenger hunt around the city with students. Currently, Stephanie is a Partnership Development Representative at ThinkCERCA, a position they began in 2022.

Stephanie Gemmen, M.Ed. obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English/Language Arts Teacher Education from Grand Valley State University in 2013. In 2017, they earned a Master's degree in Reading Specialist K-12 from Northern Michigan University. In 2014, they were certified in English-Secondary Education 6-12 by the Michigan Department of Education. In 2018, they became a National Writing Project Consultant with the National Writing Project.
