Matthew Farwell

Matthew Farwell has a strong background in cloud operations and engineering. Matthew is currently working as the Senior Director and Head of Cloud Technical Operations at THREAD. In this role, they lead a global engineering team responsible for the cloud infrastructure of a highly available SaaS product used by top pharmaceutical companies. Matthew has successfully directed automation efforts to build capabilities and reduce client onboarding time. Matthew also collaborates with the Chief Product Officer to identify opportunities for new product features and market expansion.

Prior to THREAD, Matthew worked at Ellucian for over a decade. Matthew held various roles, including Senior Engineering Manager, Senior Cloud Architect, Director of Cloud Application Delivery, and Technical Delivery Team Manager. During their time at Ellucian, Matthew played a crucial role in automating client application maintenance, improving application services recovery, and shortening client onboarding time. Matthew also provided thought leadership on cloud architecture, guiding the company's transition from self-hosted to AWS cloud for their flagship product, Banner.

As the Director of Cloud Application Delivery, Matthew led a team responsible for global application delivery, installation, maintenance, and updates. Matthew focused on automation, process improvement, and efficiency to support over 400 enterprise clients. Throughout their career, Matthew has demonstrated expertise in cloud engineering best practices, including repeatability, reusability, cloud security, and disaster recovery.

Matthew Farwell has obtained a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology from Colorado State University Global. In addition to their degree, they hold several certifications, including Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals from Microsoft, Amazon Web Services Solutions Architect - Professional from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) from Scrum Alliance, and Amazon Web Services Security Specialty from Amazon Web Services (AWS). The certifications were obtained in different months and years, with the latest being the Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals certification in November 2022.
