Thrive with Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency Organization provides people and families living with PK deficiency the tools and resources to thrive in spite of this rare, genetic anemia. PK deficiency is a chronic, hemolytic anemia with lifelong symptoms that may include jaundice, gallstones, splenomegaly, iron overload, osteoporosis, pulmonary hypertension, diabetes, ulceration and other complications. Patients experience varying levels of symptoms but the most common is chronic fatigue, which affects an individual's ability to maintain relationships, perform in school, work, and maintain a healthy quality of life.
