Karen Walker

Karen Walker has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Karen began their career as a Scientist at Roche Molecular Systems in 1991, where they contributed to the development of forensic PCR-based assays. Karen later became a Project Leader and Principal Scientist in charge of coordinating various groups for developing DNA-based identification assays. During their time at Roche, they also designed oligonucleotide primers and probes for PCR-based diagnostic assays and supervised lab personnel.

In 2006, Karen worked as a Research Associate IV at Ribomed Biotechnologies, followed by a position as a Senior Research Associate at TGEN in 2007. Karen then joined Arizona State University in 2008 as a Research Analyst for The Biodesign Institute, where they provided technical reviews and market analyses for business development and strategic planning purposes.

At Arizona State University, Karen progressed to roles such as Research Analyst and Senior Research Analyst in the Office of Knowledge Enterprise Development, where they were responsible for producing and delivering information and analyses to university leadership and faculty. Karen also managed the university's limited submissions process and monitored federal research funding activities.

In 2017, Karen became the Competitive Intelligence Team Lead for Research Development, and then in 2018, they took on the role of Assistant Director of Research Development, where they also served as the Competitive Intelligence Team Leader. In 2020, Karen was promoted to the position of Associate Director of Research Development at Arizona State University.
