Cherie Nevin Carey is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in emergency management and community relations. As the Emergency Management Coordinator for Thurston County Government since January 2020, Cherie focuses on public education and outreach initiatives. Prior to this role, Cherie served as the Community Relations Coordinator for Storey County from January 2008 to December 2019, overseeing a range of activities related to community services, parks and recreation, economic development, and public relations. In addition, Cherie held the position of Grants and Emergency Management Coordinator, where responsibilities included coordinating training programs and emergency operations drills. Cherie's career started at the Storey County Fire Department as an Administrative Assistant from January 2000 to January 2008. Cherie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Nevada, Reno and previously studied at Truckee Meadows Community College.
