Dan Shannon has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and companies. Dan is currently the Chief Partnerships Officer at Tides, a position they started in February 2021. Prior to that, in 2009, they co-founded Meet The Shannons, a vegan food and lifestyle brand with a large following and successful cookbook publications. From 2011 to 2021, they worked at Purpose, a global agency focused on participatory social impact work. During their time at Purpose, they served as Partner & Managing Director, overseeing business strategy, new business development, and project delivery, as well as managing a large team across international offices. Dan also held the role of Head of NGO Practice, where they led business strategy, new business development, and project delivery for NGO clients. Before Purpose, Dan worked at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for several years. During their time at PETA, they held the positions of Director of Youth Outreach, where they launched and grew PETA's youth brand, peta2, and Campaign Coordinator, where they ran successful advocacy campaigns and developed industry-leading animal welfare policies.
Dan Shannon attended St. John's Preparatory School from 1993 to 1997, where they focused on general studies. After graduating from high school, they pursued further education at Wesleyan University from 1997 to 2001. During their time at Wesleyan, Dan studied English with a specialization in creative writing.
