James Wood

Project Engineer 1 at Timmons Group

James Wood has a diverse work experience. James started their career in 1999 as a Machinists Mate in the US Navy, where they served until 2002. During their time in the Navy, they also worked as a Nuclear Machinist Mate. After leaving the Navy, James worked as a Night Auditor at Holiday Inn from 2005 to 2007. James then joined Holiday Inn Staunton Conference Center in 2010 as a Night Auditor for a brief period. Since 2017, James has been working at Timmons Group, initially as a Survey Instrument Operator and later transitioning to the role of Project Engineer 1.

James Wood graduated from Old Dominion University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology. Prior to that, they attended Piedmont Virginia Community College from 2008 to 2010, earning an Associate of Science degree in Engineering. Before their time at Piedmont, James attended Tidewater Community College from 2003 to 2007, studying Engineering without obtaining a degree. In terms of certifications, James became a Certified Survey Technician Level 3 from the National Society of Professional Surveyors in July 2021. James also obtained the title of Land Surveyor In Training from NCEES in February 2022 and has been recognized as a Civil Engineer in Training by NCEES since July 2019.
