As Vice President of the Northeast region, Shay Edmond leads TNTP’s consulting work in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Delaware, Maryland, and Washington D.C., with a focus on helping educators, schools, and school systems expand access to opportunity.
Shay is an experienced education professional with 20 years of extensive knowledge of public K-12 and higher education systems. Prior to joining TNTP, Shay served as the Senior Associate commissioner for the Center of Strategic Initiatives at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), where she coordinated and partnered with internal and external stakeholders to identify, design, pilot, and elevate strategies that advanced educational equity for Massachusetts students – particularly those traditionally or currently underserved.
Shay currently sits on the Board of Directors for The Teachers’ Lounge – a non-profit dedicated to recruiting, revitalizing, and retaining educators of color. Shay also sits on the Board of Directors of Hopewell, Inc., a Massachusetts-based non-profit dedicated to providing comprehensive foster care services to youth, young adults, adults with disabilities, and their families.
Shay holds a Bachelor of Arts from Curry College and a Master of Education from Boston University. She resides in Massachusetts with her husband, four children, and their dog Max.
