Brynjólfur Erlingsson has an extensive work experience in the field of data and analytics. Brynjólfur began their career in 2004 as a Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, and Programming Consultant at HugurAx, where they utilized Cognos 7 and SQL Server to perform data warehousing and BI consulting work. Brynjólfur also gained experience in Java and C# programming.

In 2007, Brynjólfur worked as a Business Intelligence Consultant at Annata, focusing on BI solutions and consulting.

Brynjólfur then joined Íslandsbanki in 2007 as a Business Intelligence and Project Management professional. Here, they were responsible for project planning and management, particularly in the development of a high-level dashboarding KPI solution for the bank's senior executives.

Moving forward, Brynjólfur served as the Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing Lead at CCP from 2008 to 2011. Brynjólfur played a vital role in establishing CCP's data warehouse and analytics initiative, focusing on data modeling, design, ETL, and reporting. Brynjólfur also utilized OLAP cubes and SQL Server 2008 analytics suite to enhance data availability.

From 2011 to 2013, Brynjólfur joined DICE (EA Digital Illusions CE AB) as a Manager - Analytics, overseeing analytics for DICE studios and the Battlefield franchise. During this time, they handled dashboards, game analytics, data mining, executive data, player behavior, and the overall infrastructure of data logging, storing, and access. Brynjólfur later became a Producer - Analytics, leading the BI, data warehousing, and data analysis initiative for Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4. Brynjólfur designed a logging structure, built a data warehouse, performed ETL, programming, data analysis, and focused on player behavior telemetry and executive KPIs.

Brynjólfur became the Analytics & Online Services Lead at Paradox Interactive from 2013 to 2015. Here, they spearheaded the establishment of a Data Warehouse and Analytics initiative, managing the entire lifecycle of the data warehouse and BI. Brynjólfur also led a team dedicated to online services for Paradox games and built a competent and sustainable BI team.

In 2015, Brynjólfur worked as a Senior BI & DW Architect for Knowit on a consultancy project for Schibsted Growth. The project involved being a BI requirement analyst and architect, supporting various websites owned by Schibsted.

Brynjólfur then joined Mojang AB in 2015 as a Data & Analytics Manager, focusing on projects such as Minecraft. Brynjólfur performed dashboarding, reporting, and technical architecture work using AWS, Redshift, Azure, Hadoop, and Tableau.

From 2018 to 2020, Brynjólfur served as the Head of Data Platforms at Tele2, where they were responsible for Tele2's data infrastructure. Brynjólfur led a large team in building a sustainable infrastructure for the future, utilizing data lake, data warehouse, and ingestion platform technologies. Brynjólfur also spearheaded an Agile Transformation and Cloud Transformation.

Currently, Brynjólfur serves as the Head of Research and Insights at Toca Boca. Their role includes building a growth and insights function from scratch, focusing on data pipelines, data lake, user research, market research, brand tracking, analytics, and data science. Brynjólfur also emphasizes the implementation of an infrastructure that prioritizes A/B testing, data-driven growth, and deep understanding of users. Additionally, they handle privacy and compliance for the studio.

Brynjólfur Erlingsson obtained their high school degree in Psychology from MH from 1993 to 1997. Brynjólfur then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at Reykjavik University from 2000 to 2003. Later, they attended KTH Royal Institute of Technology from 2006 to 2008, where they earned a Master's degree in Engineering and Management of Information Systems.
