Jorge Montoya has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Jorge began their career in 1995 as an Intern/Student at JMT Industries Inc, where they operated CNC milling machines and lathes. From 1997 to 2000, they worked as an Intern at Via Christi Health while pursuing their Masters degree.
Afterward, Montoya joined Biomet in 2000 as a Product Development Engineer in Hip R&D, where they worked on the development of the Modular Reach Hip Revision System and Acetabular All-Poly liners. Jorge then moved to Stryker in 2001 as a Project Engineer/Project Manager in Large Joint Product Development, specializing in Hip Product Development. During this time, they contributed to the development of the New Cutting Edge Hip Instrument System.
Montoya joined Zimmer Biomet in 2005, initially as a Sr. Product Development Eng I - Spine R&D, then progressing to Manager and Associate Director roles in New Product Development / R&D for large joints and spine. Jorge was responsible for managing product development staff, overseeing project execution, and implementing design control systems.
In 2012, Montoya transitioned to Nextremity Solutions, Inc. Jorge served as the Global Director, and later the Global Vice President, of Reconstructive New Product Development / R&D (Foot & Ankle). Montoya joined Ferring Pharmaceuticals in 2015 and held various positions, including Director of Device / Combination Product Development and Human Factors Engineering (HFE). In 1987, they attended Politecnico Nacional del Santa in Chimbote, Peru, where they completed their secondary education with a focus on electrical systems.
From 1989 to 1993, Jorge attended Wichita High School, East, where they obtained their High School Diploma and International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. Jorge pursued the International Baccalaureate Programme during their high school years.
Following their high school graduation, Jorge enrolled at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from 1993 to 1998. During this time, they studied biomedical engineering and earned their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.
Continuing their education, Jorge attended Wichita State University / Via-Christi Orthopedic Research Institute from 1998 to 2000. Here, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in mechanical engineering with a specialization in orthopedic product development.
In more recent years, in 2020, Jorge completed a certification in Executive Education from Columbia Business School, focusing on management and leadership.
