Sandeep Kumar

Sandeep Kumar has a diverse and extensive work experience in the biotechnology industry. Sandeep currently holds the position of Senior Director at Tome Biosciences, starting in February 2022. Prior to this role, they worked as a Director at the same company from September 2021 to February 2022.

Before joining Tome Biosciences, Sandeep served as an Associate Director at Tessera Therapeutics from October 2019 to September 2021. In this position, they managed a high-throughput plasmid construction pipeline and was responsible for DNA vector generation, overseeing various aspects such as plasmid library construction, viral vector construction, and mRNA production.

From June 2018 to October 2019, Sandeep worked as a Senior Scientist Molecular Biology at Intellia Therapeutics, Inc. Their responsibilities included designing and generating CRISPR Cas9 sgRNA libraries and conducting genetic screens in T cells. Sandeep also focused on TCR construct design and transduction in T cells, as well as developing strategies for cell enrichment and kill switches.

Prior to Intellia Therapeutics, Sandeep held the position of Senior Scientist Molecular Biology at B-MoGen Biotechnologies Inc from February 2017 to June 2018. Here, they utilized various molecular biology techniques to generate constructs for gene editing platforms. Sandeep also contributed to the development of a novel transposon-mediated non-viral gene delivery platform and conducted gene knockout and knockin experiments using CRISPR Cas9.

Before joining B-MoGen Biotechnologies, Sandeep worked as a Research Scientist at UTMB from September 2016 to February 2017. During this time, they utilized CRISPR/Cas9 technology to knockout genes in macrophage cell lines and performed DNA-protein interaction studies.

Sandeep began their career as a PostDoctoral Research Associate at Baylor College of Medicine from January 2013 to August 2016. Here, their responsibilities included high-throughput screening of small molecule drugs, protein engineering, and studying the mechanism of DNA repair.

Sandeep also worked as a PostDoctoral Research Associate at Washington University in St. Louis from June 2009 to December 2012. During this time, Sandeep focused on protein purification and identified a kinase activator through a whole genome over-expression library screen.

Sandeep Kumar started their education in 2002 by pursuing a Master's degree in Genetics and Plant Breeding, Molecular Biology, and Biotechnology at Uttarakhand Jobs. Sandeep completed their Master's degree in 2004. Following this, Sandeep Kumar pursued a PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Hyderabad/Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics from 2004 to 2009.
