Szymon Stoma has a diverse work experience. Szymon started their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at INRIA, where they worked on a Synthetic Biology project focused on tissue engineering. Szymon later co-founded the BIOGRAPHER project at Google, which aimed at providing a standard library for network visualization in bioinformatics tools. Szymon also worked as a Visiting Scientist at MIT School of Engineering, contributing to the Syne2arti project on tissue homeostasis.

Stoma then moved on to become the CEO and Partner of MicroscopeIT at Tooploox Research, specializing in AI, ML, and image processing. Szymon also co-founded Histopixel, a company focused on providing solutions for the bottleneck in histopathological exams in cancer treatment.

In recent years, Stoma has taken on various leadership roles. Szymon served as a Board Member and Co-Founder of Cat-astrophe Games, an indie game studio specializing in storytelling games with AR/VR technology. Szymon also joined Tooploox as Head of Research and Development, leading a team focused on computer vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, they were an investor in MobilWay S.A., a project allowing investment in computer game development, and Vratis, a company working on projects of all sizes.

Currently, Stoma is working at ETH Zürich as the Lead Image Analyst at the Scientific Center of Optical and Electron Microscopy. Szymon is responsible for managing research and development, teaching, consulting life science projects, and software development in image and data analysis.

Szymon Stoma obtained a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Montpellier between 2005 and 2008. Prior to that, they completed their Master's degree in Computer Science at the University of Wroclaw from 2000 to 2005. Szymon also participated in the Socrates-Erasmus exchange program at Universidad de Cádiz in 2004 and 2005 as part of their studies in Computer Science. In addition, they briefly pursued studies in Biology and Life Science at the University of Wroclaw in 2004 and 2005 before dropping out. Before entering higher education, Szymon Stoma specialized in mathematics and physics at XIII LO Szczecin from 1995 to 2000, where they obtained an A level qualification.
