Elena Pérez Rioja

Elena Pérez Rioja has over 12 years of work experience in the software engineering industry. In 2009, they were a Teaching Assistant in the Foreign Languages Department at Skidmore College. In 2010, they co-founded SpartanBits S.L. and served as CTO, leading the team from 2 to 10 people in two years without external funding. During their time at SpartanBits, they developed Android and iOS apps, and their top app, Go!Chat for Facebook, achieved 15 million downloads in December 2012. From 2013 to 2014, they were a Senior Software Engineer at Meta, where they supported computer vision engineers by building better tooling and worked cross-functionally to define and refine tools. From 2014 to 2022, they were a Senior Software Engineer at Workplace by Facebook, where they helped grow the engineering team from 8 to 200+ engineers and built the product foundations. Currently, they are a Senior Software Engineer at Topi, where they are tech leading an 8 people team, aligning business needs with tech roadmaps, and developing both frontend and backend projects.
