Melanie Steger

Melanie Steger has over 12 years of experience in finance and analytics. Melanie began their career in 2008 as a Research Associate at Beacon Economics, where they used advanced statistical software skills to analyze, evaluate and present economic trends and data. In 2009, they moved to Innovations for Poverty Action as a Project Coordinator, where they oversaw the implementation and management of a financial education intervention. In 2011, they joined StudentsFirst as a Budget and Analytics Manager, where they managed and coordinated the development of the first comprehensive annual budget for the organization. From 2013 to 2018, they worked at Rocketship Education, where they held various roles, including Director, Financial Planning & Analysis, Associate Director, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis. In this role, they managed the FP&A team, led the preparation and presentation of monthly and quarterly financials, and supported in securing $150M of municipal bonds. In 2018, they joined Chewse as VP Finance, where they owned the company's financial strategy, managed and oversaw all accounting duties, and completed a successful series B1 capital raise of >$20M. Currently, they are the VP Finance at Torch.

Melanie Steger completed their Masters of Arts in Economics from the University of San Francisco in 2008. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelors of Arts in Economics and Sociology from Wheaton College Massachusetts in 2005. Melanie attended the Frankfurt International School prior to that.
