Julia Formosa

Julia Formosa has extensive work experience in procurement and strategic sourcing roles. Julia currently works as the Director of Strategic Sourcing (Chief Procurement Executive) at the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, where they lead a team of procurement professionals and manages a spend ownership of $1 billion. Julia has transformed the sourcing department and broadened its accountability to include supplier relationship management and sustainable procurement. Julia manages various categories including construction, IT, technology, professional services, and marketing.

Prior to their current role, Julia worked as the Director of Corporate Purchasing at Parmalat Canada, where they oversaw all sourcing activities for the company and managed a spend in excess of $350 million. Julia led the transformation of the department, budget preparation, innovation initiation, and negotiation to achieve savings.

Julia also has experience working at Dawn Foods Global and Mars, where they held managerial positions and managed procurement and supply chain activities. At Dawn Foods Global, they reported to the Director of Supply Chain and had full material P&L responsibility for the supply of raw materials and finished products for Canadian manufacturing operations. At Mars, Julia managed procurement and supply of raw materials for all three Canadian sites.

Prior to their roles in procurement and strategic sourcing, Julia worked as a Senior Technical Project Manager at Cadbury plc.

Julia Formosa, P.Eng, CSCMP, BASc., BSc. has a strong educational background in engineering and chemistry. Julia obtained a BASc degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto. Additionally, Julia holds a BSc degree in Chemistry from Acadia University.

In terms of certifications, Julia has completed the Inclusive Leadership program offered by the Corporate Education Group in 2022. Furthermore, they have successfully completed the GTAA Senior Leadership Development Program at The Ivey Academy - Executive Education - Ivey Business School in August 2019. Julia is also a certified member of the Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA) and holds the prestigious P.Eng professional designation from Professional Engineers Ontario.
