Alan Smale

Alan Smale started their work experience as a Developer at Logica in 1998. Alan worked on various business improvement projects, specializing in database development using PL/SQL and Oracle Forms 6. Alan then moved on to become a Lead Developer in the Projects team, where they mentored staff, reviewed code and documentation, conducted job interviews, and championed development standards. After that, they worked as a Business Analyst on a major business improvement project, acting as a bridge between business stakeholders and IT. Alan then took on the role of Project/Programme Manager, delivering complex projects and introducing Agile and Continuous Integration practices. In 2021, Alan joined TotalEnergies as a Development Manager, leading a team of developers and implementing IT efficiencies. Alan also served as a Pension Trustee Director and currently holds the position of Head of Solution Delivery.

Alan Smale attended Solent University from 1994 to 1996, where they obtained a degree in HND Computing. Alan then continued their education at the same university and graduated in 1998 with a BSc (Hons) in Computer Studies. In terms of additional certifications, they completed various courses on data science, including Applied Data Science Capstone, IBM Data Science Professional Certificate Specialization, Data Visualization with Python, Machine Learning with Python, Data Analysis with Python, Data Science Methodology, Databases and SQL for Data Science, Open Source tools for Data Science, Python for Data Science, and What is Data Science? Alan also obtained a certificate in Competency Based Interviewing from CEB, now Gartner.
