Wissam Akra, MBA, PE, DBIA

Wissam Akra, MBA, PE, DBIA has extensive experience in the engineering field. Starting in 2010, they worked as a Site Engineer for Saudi Oger Ltd., where they learned the techniques for the casting of columns, beams and slabs. In 2011, they joined Tower Engineering as a Structural Engineer, where they prepared safe, economic and functional structural designs, and issued shop drawings. In 2012, they were a Project Coordinator at TAAB-Group, managing and scheduling project activities from excavation through concrete casting to finishing. From 2014 to 2018, they were a Resident Engineer and Office Engineer at WSP USA, managing teams of technical experts and office engineers, and coordinating construction work between multiple stakeholders. Currently, they are Co-Founder of Tough Leaf.

Wissam Akra holds an Executive MBA from Columbia Business School (2020-2022), a Master of Science (MS) in Construction Management - Civil Engineering from Columbia Engineering (2013-2014), and a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Civil and Environmental Engineering from American University of Beirut (2007-2011). Additionally, they hold certifications as a Professional Engineer from The State of New York (obtained in January 2018), OSHA 10 Hour Construction from International Association for Continuing Education & Training (IACET) (obtained in August 2014), Project Management Professional (PMP) from Project Management Institute (obtained in March 2016), LEED Green Associate from Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) (obtained in October 2014), and Top 100 Leaders in Construction from WRECONF.
