Derek Baines

Derek Baines is an experienced professional in the tourism and aviation sectors, currently serving as the Regional General Manager for Japan & Korea at Tourism Australia since April 2020. Prior to this role, Derek accumulated over three decades of experience at Qantas, holding various senior management positions, including Senior Manager for Qantas Business Rewards and leading strategic commercial projects within Qantas Loyalty. Derek's extensive background encompasses sales management, marketing planning, and strategic leadership across multiple regions, including Asia and Australia. Derek holds degrees in Asian Studies and a Graduate Certificate in Writing from Griffith University and UTS, respectively, and has strong foundational education from Brisbane Grammar School.
