Julio Figueroa

Medical Director, Infection Control at Touro Infirmary

Julio Figueroa has extensive experience in the field of infectious diseases. Julio started their career at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where they completed their internal medicine residency and infectious diseases fellowship from 1986 to 1993. In 1999, they joined LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans as an Associate Professor, and later became a Professor of Clinical Medicine and Chief of the Infectious Diseases Section. Julio also worked as a Clinical Microbiology consultant and Antibiotic Stewardship Program Infectious Diseases Lead at University Medical Center New Orleans starting from 2010. Additionally, they served as the Medical Director of Infection Control at Touro Infirmary.

Julio Figueroa attended the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine from 1986 to 1993, where they focused on Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. Prior to that, they earned their M.D. from UT Southwestern Medical Center between 1982 and 1986. Julio obtained their undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Biology from the University of Virginia from 1978 to 1982.
