Debra Garcia

Debra Garcia is an experienced journalism professional currently serving as a Teaching Assistant at Center Academy and a Freelance Writer at Tower Publications, Inc. Previously, Debra held positions including Copy Editor at The Independent Florida Alligator and Student Journalist at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications, where reporting was published in various notable outlets. Debra also contributed to educational programs as a Teaching and Resident Assistant at the Summer Media Institute and managed departmental responsibilities as a Student Assistant for the Department of Journalism. Leadership skills are demonstrated through roles as Vice President and Diversity Liaison for the Florida Magazine Student Association. Additionally, Debra has experience in community reporting as an Online Editor-in-Chief for Newsome Wolf Tracks and an Intern at Osprey Observer. Educationally, Debra is pursuing a Master's in Digital Journalism at the University of South Florida and holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Florida.
