Zara Smith, PhD

Research Scientist at Transine Therapeutics

Zara Smith, PhD has worked at four organizations since 2016. From 2016-2017, they were an Analytical Chemist at Tata Steel, where they operated the IC-PAD for the detection of inorganic compounds and assisted in the production of two sets of documentation for UKAS accreditation. From 2017-2021, they were a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Widening Participation Fellow at The University of Manchester, where they developed and delivered workshops, interactive learning opportunities and talks on higher education pathways. Currently, they are an EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellow at The University of Manchester. In 2022, they will become a Research Scientist at Transine Therapeutics.

Zara Smith, PhD completed their education history with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedical Materials from The University of Manchester between 2016 and 2021. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Nanotechnology and Regenerative Medicine from UCL between 2014 and 2015. Zara also holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from the University of Hull, which they completed between 2011 and 2014. In addition, Smith holds certifications from the Medical Research Council for HTA Research and Human Tissue Legislation (obtained in 2019) and from NCFE for Business and Enterprising Level 1 (obtained in 2007). Zara also holds grades and medals from Victoria College of Music and Drama, London in Electronic Keyboard Playing and Musical Theory.
