Jon Mamela has a strong and extensive work experience in the marketing and tourism industry. Jon is currently the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Travel Alberta, where they are responsible for accelerating the growth of Alberta's visitor economy through destination management programs. Prior to this, Mamela served as the Chief Marketing Officer & EVP at Destination Toronto, focusing on promoting Toronto as a tourist destination. Jon also held the position of CMO & SVP Marketing & Sales at Destination Canada, where they led a team in the development and execution of global marketing and sales strategies. Mamela has prior experience in customer experience marketing, partnerships, and promotions at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. Jon has also held roles at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Procter & Gamble, where they oversaw brand strategy, loyalty marketing, and interactive marketing.
Jon Mamela completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Physics at Bethany College from 1990 to 1994. Jon furthered their education by obtaining an MBA in Marketing from Miami University from 1994 to 1996. In addition to their formal education, Jon Mamela has also obtained certifications in Viral Growth from Section4 in November 2021 and as a Strategist from Prof G, also from Section4, in July 2020.
