Florentina Tofoleanu

Principal Scientist at Treeline Biosciences

Florentina Tofoleanu has a rich and diverse work experience in the field of biochemistry and molecular dynamics. Their most recent role was as a Principal Scientist at Treeline Biosciences, starting in March 2022. Prior to that, they held the same position at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) from August 2019 to February 2022.

Florentina has also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Yale University from September 2017 to July 2019. During this time, they collaborated closely with experimental groups and conducted centrality analysis, molecular dynamics simulations, and quantum mechanics simulations. Florentina also excelled in grant writing and mentored graduate and undergraduate students.

From December 2012 to July 2019, they served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at The National Institutes of Health. Before that, they worked as a PhD Researcher at University College Dublin, where they modeled the effects of Alzheimer's amyloid fibrils and amyloid ion channels using molecular dynamics simulations. Florentina also taught undergraduate physics courses and published three peer-reviewed articles.

In addition, Florentina gained research experience as a Visiting Researcher at Boston University in 2010 and as an Undergraduate Researcher at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University from 2005 to 2008. Overall, their work experience showcases their expertise in biochemistry, molecular dynamics, simulations, grant writing, and mentoring.

From 2008 to 2012, Florentina Tofoleanu attended University College Dublin and pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biophysics.
