Robert Burns has extensive work experience in the bicycle industry. Robert started their career in 1995 as the Vice President & Senior Legal Officer at Trek Bicycle Corporation. In 2008, they became President of BCycle LLC, a subsidiary of Trek. During their tenure there, they successfully launched bike sharing programs in 50 cities, including major cities such as Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Denver, and even internationally in Santiago, Chile. Burns held this position until October 2018.

Robert Burns completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from Beloit College, where they studied from 1976 to 1980. Afterward, they pursued further education at the University of Notre Dame and obtained a Doctor of Law (JD) degree, completing their studies from 1985 to 1988.
