Keith Mitchell has had a varied work experience since 2011. In 2011, they served as a Mathematics Tutor. From 2014-2018, they worked as a Fishing Guide for the University of California, Los Angeles, and as a Research Assistant at the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science. In 2017, they were a Software Engineer Intern at apeiron.io. From 2018-2019, they were an Independent Contractor as a Software/DevOps Engineer (Remote) (Part Time). During this same period, they were also a Rotation Student at Jonathan Eisen Lab and Megan Dennis Lab, and an Instructional Staff at the UCLA Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics. In 2019, they were a Bioinformatics Core Graduate Student Associate at the University of California, Davis. In 2021, they are a Bioinformatics Scientist/Engineer at TRexBio and a Graduate Research Associate at UC Davis Health.
Keith Mitchell has a comprehensive educational background. Keith attended Tulare Union High School from 2009 to 2013, then earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2017, with a minor in Bioinformatics. Keith also obtained certifications in Lab Safety Fundamentals and Biological Safety Cabinet Training from UCLA Health in 2017. Following their undergraduate studies, Mitchell attended the University of California, Davis, where they earned a Master of Science in Biostatistics and a Master of Science in Genetics and Genomics in 2021. Keith is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Computational Genomics at the University of California, Davis, which is expected to be completed in 2024. In addition, they have obtained certifications in AWS Fundamentals: Going Cloud-Native from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 2019, and Data Analysis in Python, Data Visualization with Python, Databases and SQL for Data Science, and Machine Learning with Python from IBM in 2019.
