Alison Freeland

VP, Education & Academic Affairs at Trillium Health Partners

Dr. Alison Freeland is the Vice President of Education and Academic Affairs at Trillium Health Partners (THP) and Associate Dean, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, Mississauga Campus at the University of Toronto. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Freeland has worked across hospital, community and academic settings and her commitment to education and leadership has been a consistent theme throughout her accomplished career. Prior to joining THP she served as Associate Chief of Psychiatry of the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group. She was previously Director of Undergraduate Medical Education in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Ottawa; is a past Chair of the Canadian Organization of Undergraduate Psychiatric Educators; and is currently co-chair of the Council of Ontario’s Faculties of Medicine Distributed Medical Education Committee.

She has considerable experience as an advocate regarding policy and practice around mental health care systems and is the current Chair of the Canadian Psychiatric Association Standing Committee on Professional Standards and Practice. She is a past President of the Ontario Psychiatric Association.

Her clinical work is focused on providing care to people with serious mental illness and addictions. She has a passion to shape the future generation of health care providers to ensure the continued health and wellness of the Mississauga community and beyond.
