Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President Finance, Operations, the Director, Finance is a key conduit in executing and achieving the various businesses finance and corporate objectives. The Director, Finance will have accountability to manage a team of 8+ within the operational finance team under the Trip Arc brand and Corporate controllership, governance and controls for Navigatr Group.

You will be joining a team looking to streamline the financial operations and reporting process, improve the treasury support and tax functions, and establish best practices for governance and financial controls.  The role will oversee the controllership function and day to day operational finance reporting, lead the month-end close process and be a vital contributor in the planning cycle.  Beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, the Director, Finance will be involved in strategic initiatives and projects that drive sustainable cost reductions and profitability.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute the road map to introduce, improve and enhance operational finance, treasury & tax, payables, and governance processes
  • Work closely with Business leaders, Directors and Managers to provide oversight and direction to support operational accounting and corporate controllership functions
  • Liaison with Treasury to support cash flow forecasting, monitor cash requirements, allocate funds for investments, monitor bank covenants and apply tax saving strategies
  • Work with the Strategy & Analytics team on budgeting and forecasting processes through clear understanding of the complex management & financial reporting concepts and key business drivers
  • Review and improve monthly entity level financial reporting and management reporting output produced by the finance team to contribute to MD&A and monthly executive meetings
  • Oversee the reconciliation processes connecting several financial and travel systems and related source inputs
  • Support all ERP system and subledger migrations, upgrades, enhancements, fixes, communicating effectively with management, staff, IT, and external consultants
  • Provide guidance on the GL structure to align the NAV reporting structure to new business drivers, consolidation and for evolving reporting needs
  • Lead month-end, year – end, statutory and regulatory reporting requirements with attention on optimizing process and adding efficiencies
  • Ad hoc project management as required

  • Collaborate effectively with the VP Finance, Operations and SVP, Finance to implement improved financial reporting, controls, policies, systems, and processes
  • Effective change & project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Commerce / Business Administration is required
  • Canadian accounting designation (CPA) is required
  • 2-5 Years of experience managing an operational finance team
  • Prior experience in the travel and software industry with a tour operator, host agency and/or consortia background, though not required, would be considered an asset
  • Intermediate/Advanced level Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience in a fast paced operational finance environment, exposure to financial controllership functions, corporate treasury and tax is an asset
  • Prior hands-on experience maintaining and using accounting ERP systems, MS Dynamics, MS Navision, Business Central SAP is an asset
  • Understanding of consolidation accounting including managing complex intercompany transactions/reconciliations, FX translations, CTA proofs is highly preferred
