John Steenbakkers

John Steenbakkers has extensive work experience in the medical industry, particularly in sales and account management roles. John currently serves as the Head of US Sales at TearLab Corporation since June 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Director of Strategic Accounts at TearLab Corporation starting in October 2020.

Before joining TearLab Corporation, John worked at Alcon Surgical for over two decades, starting in January 1999. During their tenure at Alcon Surgical, they held various roles, including National Accounts Director, National Accounts Manager, Surgical Sr Sales Analyst, Division Manager Phoenix, and Sales Analyst FTW. In their most recent role at Alcon Surgical, they managed the Private Equity portfolio of customers in the Cataract/Refractive ophthalmic space. Their responsibilities included managing and negotiating corporate deals with Private Equity owned customers and maintaining relationships and partnerships with key mobile and office-based corporate groups.

John Steenbakkers obtained a Bachelor's degree in Finance, General from the University of Utah in 1998. Prior to that, from 1991 to 1995, they attended Ricks College and earned an Associate of Arts degree. In addition, from 1992 to 1994, John served as a missionary in Czechoslovakia under the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
